"You look good too." She said awkwardly. You look good too? What is this? Our first date? Rachel cleared her throat, "So, w-what are your thought on this trail?" It would be best to try and avoid any personal problems they were facing at the moment. She needed to keep her mind fresh on the trail and not cloud it with thoughts of Bruce and the status of their relationship. Bruce looked around, making sure no one would hear. No one would. He looked back at her, completely serious. Need to keep focus. There's a reason you're here..."Speaking as a witness to his crimes, Rachel... The man deserves life. You should've seen the look he had when he was reminded of the people he killed... No remorse, whatsoever. I'd testify against him if... well, you know why.", Bruce said, narrowing his eyes. "The bottom line is... Whatever he gets is most likely too good for him.", Bruce said, thinking about everyone who died in the fire. Because of Nigma. Because of his maddening obsession to fill his desires in the form of puzzles. That is why Edward Nigma could not be set back onto society. Bruce immediatley regained himself. He knew what he was saying could damage Rachel's point of view, and even though what he was saying was true... She was still the DA. Not him. They were prosecuting Nigma within the justice system... His work as Batman was finished, now, in regards to this case. "But that's off the record. I know you need to form your own opinions on this. It is your job, after all...", Bruce finished.

The Bayliff comes out from the back. "All Rise!" The people stand as the judge comes out, and when he sits, they sit. "Let the trial begin."
"Come on, Rachel. Turn around." said Harvey as he sat down.

Bruce smiled to himself, a little, as they walked into the courtroom. It was sort of a silent gratification, on her part.
"Come on, Rachel. Turn around.", Her partner said, as the two assumed their places just as the trial started. Bruce in the witness chairs, Rachel behind the DA's table.
"This matter concerns the People of Gotham City, New Jersey, versus Edward Nigma in crimes against humanity, and manslaughter.", The judge announced. Bruce turned his focus away from Rachel, hearing that. Nigma had done more than that, he was sure... But that sufficed.
It was finally time for Nigma to answer to his crimes.
Bruce looked over at Peter, who looked from Bruce, to Rachel, to Bruce again. He stared at Bruce, dumbfounded, for a moment. Then, slowly, but surely, a grin came on his face. He had figured it out.
"One word and you're out of here.", Bruce silently whispered to Parker, as everyone seated.

(((Uh....ok my post is gone.... ))) Rachel turned around and took her seat beside Harvey. She smiled to herself, it was nice to talk with Bruce and get past that first awkward conversation. But for now, she had to put that behind her and concentrate on the case. It was up to her and Harvey now to put this criminal away for good. "You ready?" Harvey whispered to Rachel. "Lets take him out. " Rachel grinned.

The Judge looked at Harvey. "First, let's hear the opening arguments for the people."
Harvey stood proudly and acknowledged the judge. He then stepped out from behind the DAs' table and walked toward the jury with confidence. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we are here today because of this madman trying to destroy the city. It's simple and it's clear. There's no denying it. And in case there is any doubt among you, I will prove it to you today. I will prove it with clear evidence that this man is guilty." Harvey took a quick bow to the jury, turned to the judge for another and then strode back to his seat.
"How'd I do, Miss Dawes?" Harvey whispered to Rachel.
"Great." she replied.
The Judge looked to the other side of the courtroom. "And now, opening statements from the defense."

Edward Nigma represented himself in the courtroom. Ge sat Silent for several moments. He was still in his own little world, going over Batman's riddle.
"Mr. Nigma?" The judged asked.
"Guilty." He said softly without getting up. He was going up the river. not that it would matter. Things were going to start not mattering around Gotham very soon, little did Edward know.(Hint Hint. Start Paying attention, I wont leave anymore hints. Stay alert Rpers.**)
Stone gate or Arkham he would find cold stone his feet. Batman's return to Gotham was going to do more harm than good...God help them all, even the madmen..
**To see the future look in the past.

Bruce looked over. Nigma wasn't even going to defend himself. Perhaps, maybe, Bruce had been wrong about him. Perhaps he did have a shred of remorse for the lives he took. In any case, it didn't matter. Nigma had still taken them in cold blood. He would've taken more, had Bruce not stopped him. One of them being Spider-Man.
In short, He was still as guilty as he was when he was taken into the police. There was no avoiding it. And maybe today, justice would be served. Bruce remained silent, curious to how the rest of the trial would play out.

Harvey leaned over and whispered to Rachel, "What does this mean? Is the trial over? Should I object?"
"No, don't object, if he wants to turn himself in, let him." She replied.
"Well, what are we supposed to do now?" He replied, but he answered hs own question just by listening to the judge.
"Well...if there are no objections, and if Mr. Nigma is certain he would like to plead guilty. Then, I proclaim the court ajourned. Take Mr. Nigma to Arkham Asylum!" the judge said.
Harvey, Bruce, and Rachel just sat there stunned at what had happened. Harvey, for one, thought he should do something useful with the evidence and show the judge now. What would be the point, though? The trial was over. It was a speedy trial, no doubt. And Riddler was now in Arkham.

The guards were Hasty in taking the pitiful sight of the Nigma out of the court room to prep him for his short journey to hell.
A Riddle. Thats what it took.
The Riddler stirred in the tomb that was Edward Nigma. Perhaps he hadn't drawn his last breath. Maybe he remained somewhere within him. Only time would tell if the Prince of Puzzles would resurface. Not a split personality at all, but a better part of the nerdy Nigma. If he did come back, then he'd find Gotham streets again.
Only time would tell...

Bruce observes what happens, in shock. Nigma pleaded guilty. He accepted to pay his debt to society. It should be over. But suddenly, Bruce narrowed his eyes. It wasn't over. Far from it. Something wasn't right...
"Wow. That was... um... Easy?", Parker finally whispered to him.
"Too easy.", Bruce responded quietly, watching as they took Nigma out of the courtroom. He scowled, a little.
This definatley wasn't right. And the fact that Nigma was being sent to Arkham instead of Stonegate didn't help matters. Sure, Nigma wasn't of sound mind. But Arkham wasn't a punishment. It was treatment. And it wasn't as secure as a prison. The more Bruce thought about it, the more he disliked it.
Bruce got up from his seat, as everyone began exiting. There had to be something else he could do... But was there? He didn't know for sure. No one did. Edward Nigma was going to a mental institution once ran, unknowingly, by a madman probably even worse than him. Arkham didn't have the best reputation, to say the least.
But the effort was certainly noticeable. Even in Bruce's concentration on the trial, Dent seemed determined to see the case through, as did Rachel. He had chosen his contacts well...
The only question was... Now what? Would things begin to return to normal? Or was this... even though Bruce hated to think it... merely the beginning?
